OUR CORE OBJECTIVE

This group was initiated primarily as a networking platform for Nigerian IT professionals to share ideas, information, education, and also leverage individual and collective resources to enhance members’ upward career mobility.

HOW IT STARTED

Networking, particularly in the professional sphere, is essential to individual and group success, is an empirically established fact. This understanding prompted Michael Oriade, the president of the Network, to reach out to several friends and Nigerian IT professionals resident in the Atlanta area, for the need to build a community where members would come together to share information, ideas, and provide support for one-another and the larger Nigerian community. To this end, an inaugural meeting was scheduled for the 1st day of June 2019. On the fateful day, thirteen ladies and gentlemen showed up and thus began the journey of the group.

The meeting was quite remarkable in the sense that all members present were in agreement with the objectives as presented, which had the immediate effect of propagating the group to more members to the extent that by the turn of the year, the population had grown to about a hundred members within the short period. One of the strengths of the group is the deliberate laying of emphasis on altruism and empathy, a combination which can only make the group stronger.

We have continued to provide support for one another over this period, a tendency that validates our primary objective of coming together as a networking community of professionals. Several have gained employment, career advancement, training, and nurturing guidance through mentoring, since the inception of the Network. The positive feedback we get, though not broadcast on this platform at the request of the beneficiaries, are a testament to the benevolence of the average member of our Network. To those Masterminds who continue to provide the invaluable support to others behind the scenes, we say Thank you. We are blessed with a crop of exceptionally talented and dedicated leaders. Members of our Board of Governors, both past and present, have selflessly put countless hours and resources into managing the affairs of the Network. The same goes for the chairmen and members of our various committees. As we all know, this is a voluntary endeavor and the value of the time they put in is unquantifiable

The Nigeria-US IT Network is a community of Nigerian IT professionals resident in the US, who seek to network and collaborate for professional development in the information technology space. Our vision is that of a Nigerian professional community that will promote cooperation, which will open up new opportunities for personal and collective success. There are vast opportunities, both here in the US and in Nigeria but without an avenue to share information, education, and ideas, we limit our collective potentials to succeed. We are better placed to seize those opportunities when we pool resources and strategically synergize our individual strengths.The Network also has set for itself the lofty goal of building a new generation of tech professionals, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will provide fresh ideas and solutions to human problems and continue to shape the future.
